Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology at Florida International University (FIU) | Affiliations with the Center for Children and Families at FIU and FIU Embrace Center for Advancing Inclusive Communities

Bio

I am a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Florida International University (FIU), where I am affiliated with the Center for Children and Families (CCF) and FIU Embrace Center for Advancing Inclusive Communities. I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Science in Child and Adolescent Psychology at FIU, specializing in cognitive neuroscience and neuropsychology, and completed my doctoral internship in Neuropsychology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School.

As a clinical scientist, my research interests and activities predominantly center the mapping of neural mechanisms underlying social functioning and cognition in youth with neurodevelopmental disorders and mental health concerns. My current work examines how neural mechanisms, such as habenula connectivity, are linked to clinically meaningful phenotypes in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and its association with transition-age outcomes. Using multimodal approaches, I explore brain-behavior relationships with the goal of deepening our understanding of the neural systems involved in neurodevelopmental disorders and mental health concerns, and inform clinical practices particularly during critical stages of development.
