Research Coordinator

Megan Maxwell

Bio

I am the project coordinator for the LEMUR Study and a member of the REMEDY Lab. I graduated in May 2021 from Washington University in St. Louis with a double-major in Psychological & Brain Sciences and Art History & Archaeology. After graduating, I worked as a project coordinator at Chapman University for a new longitudinal study of pregnancy and infant development for 2 years. I then transitioned to FIU and have plans to attend the University of Denver in Fall 2024 for a PhD in Clinical Psychology.

My research interests focus on early determinants of the development of psychopathology in children, questions about how adversity and toxic stress become embedded in the body and lead to psychopathology, what critical and sensitive periods exist in early development, what disruptions in the brain or key regulatory systems may underlie this stress response, what protective factors could buffer its negative impact in youth, minoritized populations, and community engaged research.
